On May 2-3, at the invitation of German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev посетил paid a visit to the country.

The two-fold growth of mutual trade turnover and the number of joint projects was noted with satisfaction. The volume of German investments in the economy of Uzbekistan reached $ 5.5 billion, of which $ 4 billion was attracted over the past few years.

A high assessment was given to the joint business forum held during the visit, which resulted in agreements on the implementation of new trade, investment and technological projects worth $ 9 billion.
We are talking about cooperation in the field of "green" energy, mining, chemical, pharmaceutical industries, modernization of transport infrastructure, digitalization of agriculture, innovation and other priority areas.

In order to support projects of German companies in Uzbekistan, an agreement was reached on a full-scale partnership with KfW Bank, DeutscheBank and the German Society for International Cooperation.

The German Government expressed its readiness to further support Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO and the soonest signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union.

They stressed the importance of continuing the political dialogue. The sides welcomed the signing of an Intergovernmental Declaration on deepening multifaceted cooperation during the visit
Olaf Scholz supported the new regional policy of Uzbekistan aimed at creating an atmosphere of friendship and mutual trust in Central Asia and deepening integration in the region.

An agreement was reached to launch a dialogue platform in the Germany – Central Asia format.

Issues of ensuring regional security, including in the context of the situation in Afghanistan, were discussed.

They confirmed the need to continue humanitarian projects, including through the logistics hub and Educational Center for Afghan Youth in the city of Termez.

Special attention is paid to the development of transport and logistics. The parties agreed to develop the Trans-Caspian Corridor, which will form an effective route connecting the Central Asian region with Europe.

A rich cultural and humanitarian agenda was noted with satisfaction. The German side highly appreciated the unique exhibition of cultural heritage of Uzbekistan opening in Berlin these days.

The sides welcomed the growing interest in learning German in Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached on the technical assistance of the German Government to expand the study of the German language in the country's regions.

In total, 16 intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents in the fields of economy, trade, finance, education, science and innovation were signed during the visit.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of state invited German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz to pay a visit to Uzbekistan.

The Presidents noted with satisfaction the unprecedented dynamics of the development of Uzbek-German multifaceted cooperation. Intensive political, humanitarian and business contacts continue. The parties provide mutual support within the framework of reputable international institutions, including the United Nations.

A common opinion was expressed on the importance of bringing bilateral relations to a higher level.

The Presidents discussed issues of expanding trade, economic, investment and technological cooperation, and identified priority areas for practical cooperation.

Thus, in recent years, the trade turnover and the number of joint projects have doubled. The volume of German investments in our economy is 5.5 billion euros, including 4 billion euros raised in the previous few years.

The Presidents welcomed the results of the business events, which included trade contracts and investment and technological agreements worth over 9 billion euros.

Berlin highly appreciates Uzbekistan's efforts to ensure stability and prosperity in the Central Asian region.

In this context, Germany expressed its readiness to support regional connectivity projects, including within the framework of the EU's Global Gateway Initiative.

They expressed interest in strengthening partnership in ensuring regional security and countering modern challenges and threats, primarily in the context of the situation in Afghanistan.

The sides stressed the importance of continuing targeted humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, including using the existing infrastructure in the border town of Termez.

Special attention is paid to the issues of cultural and humanitarian exchange. The leaders welcomed the opening of a unique exhibition of Uzbekistan's cultural and historical heritage in Berlin.

An agreement was reached to prepare a comprehensive program for studying the German language in Uzbekistan, including by expanding the activities of the Goethe Institute in the country's regions.
Within the framework of the visit to Germany, the heads of the two countries opened a unique exhibition " Archaeological treasures of Uzbekistan. From Alexander the Great to the Kushan Empire " at the world-famous James Simon Gallery in Berlin.

Opening the event, the head of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction the growing interest of the peoples of the two countries in the rich cultural heritage and modern achievements of each other.
The immortal works of Goethe, Heine, Schiller, Thomas Mann, Remarque and many others are well known and revered in Uzbekistan, and they admire the magnificent music of Bach, Beethoven, Strauss and Wagner.

The German public is well acquainted with the history of Uzbekistan, through the territory of which the ancient caravan routes that reached Europe passed.

For centuries, the Great Silk Road has made a huge contribution to the development of trade, science, culture and art, promoting intercultural dialogue, exchange of spiritual values, generation of progressive ideas, integration and cooperation, peace and creation, tolerance and harmony.

The great poet Goethe in his collection of poems "West-East Divan" sang the beauty of the ancient cities of Samarkand and Bukhara, and the outstanding composer Handel created the opera "Tamerlane".

The opening of the exhibition was a landmark event in the history of cultural exchange between Uzbekistan and Germany. The agreement to hold it was reached during the visit of German Federal President Frank-WalterSteinmeier to Uzbekistan in May 2019.

For almost four years, archaeologists, historians, art historians and museum workers from the two countries have worked hard to organize it. About 50 of the most valuable artifacts were restored with the participation of German specialists.

The exhibition, which runs until January 14, 2024, features 65 exhibits from the collection of the state museums of Berlin and 285 from the collections of museums in Uzbekistan, many of which are being exhibited outside the country for the first time.

The exhibition tells about the ancient and rich culture of our country, the history of the early states in the territory of modern Uzbekistan and Central Asia, from the VI century BC to the IV century of this era.

Among the masterpieces are sculptures of aristocrats, warriors and noble women from the settlements of Dalvarzintep and Khalchayan of the Kushan kingdom.
This unique exhibition will allow visitors to get a closer look at the history of Uzbekistan and form a more complete picture of the heritage of its people.

It will serve to further rapprochement and mutual understanding between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Germany, to develop a broad dialogue and multifaceted cooperation between our countries.
